A new vulnerability in Wi-Fi Encryption could Expose More than a Billion Devices

Recently, cybersecurity researchers at ESET have discovered a new hardware vulnerability in the Wi-Fi chips which could expose more than a billion devices, including mobiles, tables, laptops, routers, IoT gadgets, and Wi-Fi access points.

Those vulnerable chips are manufactured by companies such as Broadcom and Cypress are widely used today’s client devices, made by well-known manufacturers including Amazon (Echo, Kindle), Apple (iPhone, iPad, MacBook), Google (Nexus), Samsung (Galaxy) as well as devices under many other brands.

Dubbed as ‘Kr00k’ and known as CVE-2019-15126, the vulnerability could let remote attackers unauthorizedly decrypt the WPA2-encrypted traffic and intercept the connected vulnerable device/s.
