Australian Banks Targeted by DDoS Extortionists Asking for Ransom

Banks and other financial organizations in Australia have been facing many targeted DDoS extortion campaigns over the past week.

Hackers are sending emails to banks asking for large ransom in cryptocurrency Monero (XMR), and threatening DDoS attacks if their demands aren’t met.

The Australian Signals Directorate’s Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) has published out a security threat advice about this ongoing extortion campaign.
