Discord is shutting down due to a massive data breach
Recently it has brought to the notice that the Discord.io, one of the most popular communication platforms for gamers and communities that allows discord server owners to create discord invites, has been compelled to cease its operations due to a massive data breach. The breach, which came to light recently, has exposed sensitive information of more than 760,000 users and the data of all these people are stolen from the Discord.io by hackers.
The company recently issued a statement saying – “Discord.io has suffered a data breach. We are stopping all operations for the foreseeable future,” the service said on its Discord server.
The website even shows the notification on the permanent shutdown:
The engineers at Discord.io is still investigating the breach but it was found that the there was a vulnerability present in the website’s code that allowed hackers to get access to their database. It is also know that the hackers put the entire database of discord.io on sale on a third party site / forum.
Here are some details on the type of sensitive use data that was stolen in the Discord data breach:
- Your username
- Your Discord ID
- Your email address
- Your billing address
- Your hashed password
What should you do if you were a Discord.io user?
If you’re registered on Discord.io website prior to 2018 using the previous username/password registration method, then you should update your password on any other websites where you may have used the same password.
